Malmö 2008 - Swedish Genealogy Days

Organization

The annual Swedish genealogy event 2008 will be organized by Malmö Genealogical Society at the request of The Federation of Swedish Genealogical Societies. The event will be planned and carried out as a joint venture with The Scanian Genealogy Federation and its members and other Scanian genealogical societies and their members. In addition to these, sponsors, regional organizations and businesses, exhibitors, lecturers and active genealogists will be instrumental in making this event interesting and profitable.

Malmö Genealogical society

has about 460 members and exists in close cooperation with Malmö City Archives. Their records on Malmö and the surrounding municipalities is extensive. The society arrange courses, member meetings and tutor lead research events. Many members will actively take part in the preparation and carrying out of next year’s event. Scanian Genealogy Federation (SGF)

is the regional federation for genealogical societies in Scania. They are located at Arkivcentrum Syd in Lund. The federation plans and participates in a variety of projects and are active in the creation of different records, among others Skånes knektregister, The Scanian Military Register. The archives provides genealogists with copies of a selection of old, Scanian documents. SGF also has a library and sells books, cd-rom’s and other material for genealogists.
